The nomination of Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Muhammad Amir Hayat as the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been officially endorsed by the government.
The proposal for this appointment was submitted for consideration to the federal cabinet. The position of PIA CEO had remained vacant for approximately 1.5 years. The prime minister had previously rejected the three-year tenure proposed for the CEO appointment.
As a strategic step, the government has decided to initially appoint the PIA CEO for a one-year term. Following this period, the CEO’s performance will be evaluated, taking into account the ongoing privatization process.
AVM Amir Hayat had previously served as the acting CEO of PIA.
