77th Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan Celebrated with Grand Parade, Cultural Showcases, and Regional Festivities

Gilgit – The 77th Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan was celebrated with grandeur and national pride, featuring a vibrant parade and cultural festivities at the Helipad Ground in Gilgit. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Commander 10 Corps, Lieutenant General Shahid Imtiaz, along with notable figures such as Governor Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan, Commander FCNA Major General Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, and other esteemed government officials.

Addressing the large crowd, Commander 10 Corps commemorated the unique historical significance of Gilgit-Baltistan’s independence, marking it as a monumental moment for Pakistan. “The independence of Gilgit-Baltistan is a legacy forged by the bravery of this region’s people. Their unwavering dedication to Pakistan has always been a message of unity and commitment to the nation,” he stated.

The Chief Minister expressed his admiration for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, paying homage to the martyrs and freedom fighters whose sacrifices have brought pride and freedom to the region.

Parade and Cultural Highlights

The grand parade included diverse contingents from the Pakistan Army, NLI, GB Scouts, Women Police, GB Police, Punjab Rangers, and Cadet Colleges from Skardu and Chilas. The highlight of the parade was an impressive display by SSG commandos, featuring thrilling free-fall jumps and paragliding stunts, earning spirited applause from the audience.

Adding cultural vibrancy to the celebration, students from various schools and colleges performed patriotic songs, traditional dances, and regional music representing the unique heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan. Cultural floats from Gilgit Division, Baltistan, Diamer-Astore Division, and performances by high-achieving students celebrated the diversity and traditions of the area.

Stalls set up by the Pakistan Army, SCO, Police, Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and other organizations further enhanced the event’s atmosphere, showcasing local initiatives and development projects.

Independence Day Festivities Across the Region

In addition to Gilgit’s main event, similar Independence Day celebrations were organized in Baltistan, Diamer, Astore, and other districts, fostering a spirit of unity and pride. With the support of the Pakistan Army, these widespread events created a festive atmosphere that resonated across Gilgit-Baltistan.

This year’s celebrations underscored the strong bond between Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan, celebrating the region’s cultural heritage, resilience, and commitment to the nation.
