ISLAMABAD: Lawmakers in Pakistan’s National Assembly are set to approve the 27th Constitutional Amendment Pakistan today. The session resumes amid high expectations and strong government confidence.

Debate and Voting on the Amendment

The House debated the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill on Tuesday. Lawmakers will now vote clause by clause to finalize the bill.

Government sources said the coalition commands 237 votes, exceeding the required 224 votes for passage. Officials expect smooth approval during today’s session.

Nawaz Sharif Joins Assembly for Key Vote

PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif plans to attend the session. He will cast his vote to support the 27th Constitutional Amendment Pakistan.

His participation reflects unity within the ruling alliance as it pushes forward a major constitutional reform.

Federal Constitutional Court Formation

Once the President signs the amendment, the government will immediately begin forming the Federal Constitutional Court.

Officials plan to start appointing judges right after presidential approval. Sources said the court’s judges could take oath as early as Thursday.

Powers Under the 27th Amendment

The amendment authorizes the President and Prime Minister to appoint judges to the new court jointly. The Senate has already approved the bill, clearing the path for its final passage in the National Assembly.

Opposition’s Proposals and Government Confidence

Opposition parties have submitted their own amendment drafts to the Assembly Secretariat. They plan to present these separately during the session.

However, the ruling coalition remains confident. Leaders believe their two-thirds majority will ensure the 27th Constitutional Amendment Pakistan passes without hurdles.
