Why PTI is Staging the Protest
The PTI has decided to proceed with their demonstration today. The party will stage the PTI protest twin cities against visitation restrictions. Their incarcerated founder remains inaccessible to his family and party leaders. The main protest locations are outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail. This decision comes despite a ban on public gatherings in both cities. The Rawalpindi administration issued a three-day ban on Monday.
⚖️ The Court Order Violation
PTI leader Asad Qaiser confirmed the protest plans. He stated that opposition lawmakers will protest first outside the IHC. They will then move their demonstration to Adiala jail. Qaiser claimed the IHC order on visitation rights was not implemented. He criticized the jail administration for failing to comply. Last week, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister was also barred from meeting Mr. Khan. His family members have faced similar restrictions for weeks.
🛡️ Warning on Governor’s Rule
The PTI parliamentary committee met on Monday. They strongly warned against imposing Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Rumours about such plans have been circulating. The committee stated this action would create instability. They argued it would spread discord and worsen law and order.
The parliamentary committee asserted that the KP government holds a public mandate. Any attempt to destabilize it insults the public’s choice. They also raised concerns about the federal government’s policies. These policies have hurt KP economically and politically. They demanded that the Centre honor KP’s rights.
🛣️ Expanded Protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
In addition to the PTI protest twin cities, the party announced a rally in KP. The KP chapter will assemble at the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway Interchange. The rally is set to culminate at the Swabi Interchange. Protestors from several cities will join this procession. Some leaders suggested they might suspend traffic on the motorway. Lawmakers will attend the Islamabad and Rawalpindi demonstrations. Other office-bearers will participate in the KP rallies. This signifies a large-scale political mobilization.
