Pakistan white ball team coach Gary Kirsten came to Pakistan in July for T20 World Cup report presentation and meetings and at that time he asked for change of T20 captain.
In July, Gary Kirsten also met with Babar Azam and they discussed the captaincy. Also, on the occasion of the connection camp, Gary Kirsten kept persuading Babar Azam to be the captain in ODIs, but Babar Azam felt distanced from the players and valued. He was not convinced to retain the captaincy due to the absence.
Sources say that no one was in touch with Babar Azam from the board after the World Cup and during that time Babar Azam was not even included in any consultation process.
