Pakistan Showcases Tech Potential at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s tech industry is poised to make a strong impact at GITEX Global 2024, one of the world’s largest technology exhibitions, which kicks off today in Dubai and will run from October 14 to 18. A delegation of 24 top exhibitors from Pakistan will represent the country’s expanding capabilities in the IT and tech sectors, according to the Pakistani embassy in the UAE.
The annual GITEX Global event serves as a critical platform, connecting global industry leaders with innovation-focused startups, government officials, corporate buyers, and expert investors. The Government of Pakistan has facilitated a 156-square-meter exhibition space at the Dubai World Trade Center, aiming to position Pakistan as a competitive player on the global technology map.
‘Tech Destination of the Year 2024’
Highlighting Pakistan’s progress, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi expressed pride over the country’s recognition as GITEX Global’s “Tech Destination of the Year 2024.” The accolade reflects Pakistan’s efforts to nurture a growing digital ecosystem and position itself as an emerging hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
“This recognition is a testament to Pakistan’s strides in the tech industry,” Tirmizi said. “It reinforces our status as a thriving center for digital innovation.”
Key Presence at a Premier Global Event
Sajjad Mustafa Syed, Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PSHA), emphasized that GITEX’s 2024 edition brings together 180 participating countries, over 200,000 trade buyers, and 7,000 multinational companies. The event will also feature more than 65,000 senior executives from leading global firms.
Syed noted that Pakistan’s participation in previous GITEX events has contributed to the country earning this year’s “Tech Destination” title. He added that the Pakistani exhibitors aim to generate leads worth up to $500 million during the event, further boosting Pakistan’s footprint in the global tech landscape.
Strengthening Global Tech Ties
The Pakistani contingent is eager to forge partnerships with global tech leaders and attract investors through their presence at the exhibition. “This year’s participation reflects Pakistan’s growing influence in the global digital economy,” the Pakistani embassy in Abu Dhabi said in a statement.
By participating in GITEX Global, Pakistan underscores its commitment to strengthening its IT sector and expanding opportunities in the digital economy. The event provides the country with access to a broad network of investors, buyers, and collaborators, which could play a pivotal role in accelerating Pakistan’s technological growth.
The four-day exhibition is set to spotlight cutting-edge technologies and transformative innovations, presenting an invaluable opportunity for Pakistani firms to showcase their potential and align with global tech trends.
Pakistan’s engagement in GITEX not only highlights the country’s progress but also signals a clear ambition to position itself as a leading destination for IT services and a strong player in the global tech economy.
