The summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has begun.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while opening the meeting has said that holding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting is an honor for us.
Shahbaz Sharif says that the SCO countries are 40% of the world’s population, for sustainable development, regional cooperation and linkages are essential.
He said that we have to move forward together for economic development, stability and prosperity, we have to provide better quality of life and facilities to our people.
The Prime Minister said that he is confident that the discussions held in the meeting will yield far-reaching results. The global scenario is facing change and evolution. The current situation requires collective action.
He said that the meeting will provide an opportunity to promote relations with the member countries, we have to move forward by utilizing collective wisdom, Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region, and efforts are necessary to promote trade relations.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the international community should focus on humanitarian aid in Afghanistan, and the use of Afghan land for terrorism must be stopped, Pakistan wants a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.
The prime minister said that tourism, connectivity, and green belt sectors need attention, poverty is not an economic problem but also a moral problem, threats from climate change are challenges, we need economic stability for a common future, dealing with natural calamities. We have to work together, he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the guests to the convention center for the meeting.
Prime Ministers of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, and Belarus, the Minister of Minerals of Iran, and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar are participating in the SCO meeting.
Before the meeting, the participants took a group photo.
The meeting will discuss ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural relations.
The Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honor of the guests
Yesterday, a dinner was given at the Prime Minister’s House in honor of the guests of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Later the dinner was attended by the leaders of China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkmenistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the guests, during which Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif exchanged handshakes and pleasantries.
Shahbaz Sharif welcomed them for attending the meeting and reiterated their determination to advance the principles and objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The guests congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the successful conduct of the SCO Summit.
