Lahore: The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Wednesday that 172 new cases of dengue were reported across the province in the past 24 hours, raising concerns about the virus’s spread as the total case count for 2024 continues to climb.
Breakdown of New Cases
According to official data:
- Rawalpindi reported the highest number of cases with 157.
- Lahore registered 8 new infections.
- Jhelum recorded 2 cases.
- Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, and Okara each reported 1 case.
The province identified 904 new infections over the past week, bringing the total number of dengue cases in Punjab for 2024 to 3,771.
Preparedness and Response
The health department assured the public that sufficient medicine stock is available in all public hospitals across the province, and all necessary measures are in place to manage the outbreak.
