Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Harassment and Online Blackmail in Nomal
NOMAL – A local court has sentenced Zulfiqar Ali, a resident of Nomal, to five years in prison for multiple offenses, including the harassment and blackmail of a girl by posting objectionable photographs online. Ali was convicted after demanding sexual favors from the victim, which she refused, leading to his release of explicit content, causing severe mental distress to the victim and her family.
The case was investigated by SHO FIA Cyber Crime Jawad Khan, while Advocate Farhan Ali represented the victim. AD Legal Dildar Hussain led the prosecution during the trial.
According to the official report, the accused repeatedly threatened the victim, blackmailing her with the release of explicit material unless his demands were met. His actions not only violated her privacy but inflicted immense emotional harm on the victim and her family.
Court Verdict and Sentencing
Zulfiqar Ali was convicted under the following legal provisions:
- Section 20 PECA – 3 years
- Section 21 PECA – 5 years
- Section 24 PECA – 3 years
- Section 506 PPC – 2 years
- Section 509 PPC – 3 years
Although the total sentence amounts to 16 years, the court ruled that the sentences would run concurrently, meaning Zulfiqar Ali will serve a total of five years in prison. Additionally, the court granted him the benefit of Section 382-B of the Cr.P.C., allowing time already spent in custody to be counted toward his sentence.
