The Iranian National Institute for Marine and Air Research has made a significant breakthrough in marine exploration and assessment. According to institute official Murtaza Tavakoli, substantial investments have been made to conduct research in Iran’s northern and southern seas. The institute has achieved remarkable milestones in marine and aerial research, contributing to the country’s scientific advancements.
Highlighting the importance of maritime activities, Tavakoli stated, “Marine development and trade along sea routes are crucial. Several organizations are actively working in this domain, and greater cooperation and coordination among these entities can lead to significant progress.”
He further emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive institution dedicated to marine and aerial research. Citing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s guidance, Tavakoli noted, “The importance of the maritime economy surpasses that of land-based economies.”
Tavakoli pointed out that maritime transportation is more cost-effective than land-based logistics, and marine resources, including seafood, play a critical role in meeting global nutritional needs.
This year, the institute achieved the capability to conduct research at a depth of 2120 meters underwater, a technological feat possessed by only 14 countries globally. Remarkably, this advanced technology has been entirely developed within Iran, showcasing the nation’s growing self-reliance and innovation.
The success of this initiative underscores the vital role of marine and aerial research in advancing Iran’s scientific, economic, and technological ambitions. As Iran continues to enhance its capabilities, it paves the way for further achievements in maritime research and economic development.
