Cyber attacks on WhatsApp accounts have increased in Pakistan, revealing access to sensitive communications of WhatsApp users through hacking.
According to Dawn News, in view of the increase in cyber attacks on WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan, the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCER) has issued an advisory to take precautionary measures.
The cyber security advisory has directed users to take important security measures, asking users to use strong passwords on WhatsApp to avoid hacking and avoid clicking on any unknown links.
Users should keep their WhatsApp account locked by biometrics to avoid Cyber attacks on WhatsApp, using WhatsApp over Wi-Fi in public places can lead to cyber attacks.
The advisory directs users to disable cloud backup, users to use built-in security features on WhatsApp, users to install anti-virus and anti-malware software.
In the advisory, users are instructed to be aware of WhatsApp security updates, government employees, users can take precautions to protect official data from cyber attacks, users to report any suspicious activity immediately.
