Casio has introduced its first smart ring, the CRW-001-1JR, a revolutionary wearable to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its digital watch business. Priced at approximately $128 (￥19,800), this compact yet feature-packed device will debut in Japan in December, offering a modern twist on Casio’s iconic digital watches.
The smart ring boasts a retro six-segment LCD screen, capable of displaying hours, minutes, and seconds. Additional features include a date display, a world clock function, and a stopwatch, all controlled via three buttons integrated into its design. A standout feature is its flashing alarm, which uses visual alerts rather than sound, making it ideal for subtle notifications.
Casio’s smart ring also features a screen light for visibility in low light conditions. Powered by a single, easily replaceable battery, it offers a lifespan of up to two years. Designed with durability in mind, the ring is waterproof and built to withstand everyday use.
To replicate the classic aesthetics of larger digital watches, the CRW-001-1JR is manufactured using a metal injection molding process, resulting in a sleek, seamless design. However, this precision comes with a fixed US size 10.5. Casio includes spacers to help users with smaller fingers, but those with larger hands might need alternative solutions.
Unlike competitors like Timex, which recently launched a similar wearable with a stretchable band, Casio’s offering delivers a robust build and enhanced functionality. With its compact size and innovative features, this smart ring redefines the concept of wearable technology.
