Tesla Upgrades V4 Superchargers to 500 kW
Tesla has announced a significant upgrade to its V4 Superchargers, now capable of charging at speeds up to 500 kW.
New Control Cabinets Boost Charging Performance With V4 Superchargers
The upgraded control cabinets are the key to unlocking higher charging rates. Previously, V4 Superchargers were capped at 250 kW, the same as V3 models.
The Cybertruck benefits the most, with charging times improved by 30%, according to Tesla’s representatives. Meanwhile, the Tesla Semi can charge at an impressive 1.2 MW.
Efficiency Improvements with Advanced Design
The new control cabinets support up to eight V4 Supercharger, doubling the capacity of earlier systems. This design saves both space and costs.
Additionally, the cabinets are simpler, more compact, and boast three times the energy density of previous versions.
Power Distribution Limits Explained
While the upgrades are impressive, charging eight vehicles simultaneously at 500 kW isn’t possible. Tesla limits output to 1 MW across eight chargers.
Tesla clarifies that this limitation will only affect about 1% of charging sessions. Most users will experience the full potential of the system.
Faster, Smarter Charging for EV Owners
These upgrades make EV charging faster, more efficient, and more user-friendly. Tesla continues to lead in EV infrastructure innovation, meeting the demands of its growing user base.
Tesla’s new V4 Superchargers are a step forward, offering faster charging speeds and better energy efficiency for EV drivers worldwide.
