Pakistan thrash Oman by 93 runs in Asia Cup 2025 opener

Pakistan kicked off their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a commanding 93-run victory against Oman in Dubai on Friday. Mohammad Haris returned to form with a sparkling 43-ball 66, while Pakistan’s bowlers dominated to secure a convincing win.

Haris, who struck seven fours and three sixes, anchored Pakistan’s innings after an early setback as the team managed a modest 160-7. He shared a crucial 85-run partnership with Sahibzada Farhan (29 off 29), stabilizing the innings after Saim Ayub fell for a duck on the second ball.

Oman’s debutants impressed with the ball—Aamir Kaleem (3-31) and Shah Faisal (3-34) restricted Pakistan’s scoring, with Faisal also picking up Hasan Nawaz (9) and Mohammad Nawaz (19) on debut. Fakhar Zaman added late fireworks, remaining unbeaten on a quickfire 23 off 16 balls, helping Pakistan add 49 runs in the last five overs.

In reply, Oman faltered under pressure, collapsing for 67 runs in 16.4 overs. Pakistan’s spinners took charge as Sufiyan Muqeem (2-7) and Saim Ayub (2-8) dismantled the middle order, while Faheem Ashraf (2-6) cleaned up the tail.

Hammad Mirza was Oman’s top-scorer with 27 off 23 balls, including one six and three boundaries, but lacked support as wickets tumbled around him.

With this win, Pakistan made a strong statement in the Asia Cup 2025, starting their campaign with dominance and momentum.
