The Sindh government has announced a groundbreaking initiative to provide Electric Taxis for Unemployed Youth in Sindh across the province. The decision aligns with the government’s commitment to a “Green Sindh” and aims to create sustainable employment opportunities through Electric Taxis for Unemployed Youth in Sindh.
Government’s Vision for Green Sindh
According to Sindh’s Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, the initiative will help unemployed individuals earn a livelihood through affordable and environmentally-friendly transportation options. The electric vehicle (EV) taxis will contribute to reducing carbon emissions, making Sindh a cleaner and greener province.
Speaking about the project, Sharjeel Inam Memon stated, “We want to provide sustainable means of income to unemployed individuals. The eco-friendly electric taxis are part of our mission to achieve a greener Sindh.”
Partnership with EV Assembling Companies
The announcement came after a meeting between the minister and representatives from an electric vehicle assembling company in Karachi. The company provided a detailed briefing on the benefits and features of these environment-friendly EV taxis.
In light of the discussion, the Sindh government has directed the transport secretary to collaborate with various banks to design financing models. These models will allow unemployed youth to acquire electric taxis through easy monthly installments.
Economic and Environmental Benefits
This initiative is not only expected to provide job opportunities to jobless individuals but also promote economic growth by encouraging the use of sustainable transport.
“The introduction of EV taxis will create employment opportunities and contribute to the province’s economic development through sustainable means,” Memon added.
How to Apply for the EV Taxi Program
The Sindh government will soon announce the application process for eligible candidates. Interested applicants will be able to apply through local banks and transport offices.
