The current conflict ignited on October 7th. Hamas fired over 1,000 rockets into Israel. They also breached the border fence. Hamas attacked military posts and settlements. Infrastructure damage is widespread and severe. About 163,778 buildings have been damaged total. Over 52,564 structures are completely destroyed. Another 18,913 buildings risk total collapse. Furthermore, 56,710 buildings are severely damaged. They are currently uninhabitable for residents.
US Military and Financial Support
The United States provided significant support. Al Jazeera reported on the financial aid given. The U.S. sent $17 billion in military aid to Israel. This funded weapons and the Iron Dome defense system. The U.S. also increased its military spending. It spent $4.86 billion on regional operations. This includes naval defenses against Houthi rebels.
Increased Troop Presence
The U.S. troop presence also increased. The number rose from 34,000 personnel. It reached nearly 43,000 troops globally. This massive increase drove up operational costs.
Israel’s Daily Financial Strain
