Punjab Floods 2025: Monsoon Rains Trigger Mass Evacuations and High Alerts

BAHAWALPUR/ISLAMABAD/FAISALABAD – Torrential monsoon rains and devastating floods continue to batter Punjab, forcing authorities to issue fresh evacuation orders in low-lying areas. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across several regions in the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), another strong monsoon system is set to hit southern parts of the country, bringing heavy downpours. PDMA Flood Warning

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has sounded the alarm over extremely high flood levels in Punjab’s major rivers – Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab. The agency reports that over 2.48 million people have been affected, while millions more living along riverbanks remain at risk.

  • 3,129 locations in Punjab are affected by floods.
  • 932,323 people have been shifted to safe areas.
  • 390 relief camps have been set up, currently housing 16,218 people with food and medical assistance.
