IT Ministry Is Planning To Bring Apple To Pakistan

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ederal Minister for IT and Telecom, Syed Amin-ul-Haque, has unveiled plans to entice Apple to invest in Pakistan. During discussions surrounding the mobile manufacturing policy, the minister disclosed that Pakistan has already attracted Samsung and Nokia to establish assembly plants. Now, the ministry’s focus is on luring Apple to make a significant investment in the country.

Minister Haque also highlighted the ministry’s initiatives, including directing the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to collaborate with experts and stakeholders for a comprehensive market study on 5G. He suggested that policy guidelines for the study could be issued by the caretaker government.

Notably, the minister emphasized the rise in IT exports during May–June 2023, while exports from other sectors declined. He stressed the importance of completing 83 projects initiated through the Universal Services Fund by December 31.

Additionally, Haque urged the government to provide support to the telecom sector for infrastructure enhancement to deliver high-quality services to the public. He assured that proactive measures are being taken to tackle challenges within the industry.
