Joe Root became the highest run-scoring British batsman in Test cricket

Former England Test captain Joe Root became the highest run-scorer by a British batsman by scoring his 35th century on the third day of the first Test at Multan.

In the Test cricket between Pakistan and England, Joe Root took the title of the batsman who scored the most Test runs from England during this innings.

Previously this record was held by England left-hand ex-captain Alaister Cook.

Alaister Cook scored 12,472 runs at an average of 45.35 in 291 innings of 161 Tests for England between 2006 and 2018, including 33 centuries and 57 half-centuries.

The right-handed batsman is now the fifth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket.

Joe Root, who hails from Yorkshire county, played his first Test against India in Nagpur in December 2012.

Root scored 73 runs in the first innings and 20 not out in the second innings.

Born on December 30, 1990, this is the 147th Test of Joseph Edward Root’s career, while his next goal in Test cricket is to reach 13,000 runs.
