The Federal Government has officially unveiled the schedule for public holidays in Pakistan for the year 2025, marking a total of 16 holidays nationwide. This announcement, issued by the Cabinet Division, highlights significant national, religious, and cultural events.
Public Holidays Overview for 2025
The year kicks off with Kashmir Day on February 5, a day symbolizing solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Following this, Pakistan Day, observed on March 23, commemorates the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940.
Religious holidays hold a special place in the 2025 calendar. Both Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha will feature three consecutive holidays each, allowing extended celebrations for the Muslim community. These dates will be finalized based on the moon sighting, as per Islamic tradition.
Notable National Holidays
Labour Day, celebrated on May 1, recognizes the contributions of workers across the country. Another remarkable day is Yom-e-Takbeer on May 28, honoring Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests conducted in 1998, a proud moment in the nation’s history.
The country’s Independence Day on August 14 remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s identity, marked with patriotic fervor. Iqbal Day, celebrated on November 9, pays tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet-philosopher who envisioned Pakistan.
Religious and Cultural Observances
The Cabinet Division also announced holidays for Ashura and Eid Milad-un-Nabi, observing key Islamic events. The Christian community will enjoy a holiday on December 26, following Christmas celebrations.
The year concludes with Quaid-e-Azam Day on December 25, commemorating the life and contributions of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
