The Pakistani government has taken a significant step to enhance the security of children’s identification records by making the inclusion of fingerprints and photographs mandatory in the B-Form registration process. This decision will be implemented in phases, starting January 15, targeting children aged 10 to 18 years.
Enhanced Security Measures for B-Form
Under the initiative, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), in collaboration with the Passport Department, will begin collecting fingerprints and photographs of children at designated NADRA centers nationwide. This move aims to modernize identity verification and reduce risks associated with data theft and fraudulent activities.
According to an official statement by the Ministry of Interior, these measures will prevent the misuse of children’s identification information, such as obtaining fake CNICs, illegal passports, and combating human trafficking. The inclusion of biometric data will also strengthen Pakistan’s security infrastructure by aligning it with global standards.
Phased Implementation Strategy
In the first phase, the registration process will be rolled out on January 15. Children aged between 10 and 18 will be required to provide their biometric details, including fingerprints and photographs, at NADRA centers. Gradually, the program will expand to younger age groups in later phases.
Speaking on the development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the importance of these measures:
“This initiative will address the growing concerns of identity theft and provide greater protection against crimes such as human trafficking and document fraud. It is a crucial step toward safeguarding our children’s futures.”
Conclusion
This decision reflects the government’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies for national security and public safety. Parents are encouraged to visit their nearest NADRA centers to ensure their children’s records are updated promptly.
