Android 15 January Security Patch Rolls Out

Google has officially released the Android 15 January security patch for Pixel devices. This update kicks off 2025 with critical fixes and improvements.


Supported Pixel Devices

The update is available for a wide range of Pixel devices, including:

  • Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
  • Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
  • Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
  • Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold
  • Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold

What’s Fixed in the January Patch?

This patch resolves 26 security issues dated 2025-01-01 and 12 more dated 2025-01-05. These vulnerabilities range from high to critical.

Google’s bulletin lists one additional fix specific to Pixel devices. Some notable improvements include:

Audio Fixes

  • Resolved audio delay and stability issues with certain apps.

Camera Fixes

  • Improved camera stability when switching to connected cameras under certain conditions.

Display & Graphics Fixes

  • Fixed flashing lines appearing on the screen in specific scenarios.

User Interface Improvements

  • Resolved issues with Pixel launcher themed icon color display.

Update Details

The update size for the Pixel 9 Pro is 93.22 MB. Factory and OTA images are now available for download. Devices will also receive the update over-the-air.

All global devices share the same build number: AP4A.250105.002. Additional builds are available for specific carriers:

  • Telstra: .B1 for Pixel 7–9 Pro Fold
  • EMEA: .A1 for Pixel 6 series
